A community for women in tech at HSLU I — here to connect, support and grow together
Who we are
Women in IT is a subgroup of our student association, Safe Space on Campus, created and led by women studying at the HSLU Computer Science department. We’re here to build community, provide support, and make sure women have a space to share their experiences in a field where we’re still the minority.

Women’s Gatherings
Casual get-togethers to chat, share experiences and make new friends
Workshops

Questions we often hear
Why do we need a women’s group?
Because women are still underrepresented in STEM. Having a dedicated space helps us connect, support each other and feel less alone.
Is this a group only for women?
Our focus is on creating a safe space for women, so most of our events and workshops are women centered. Everyone is welcome to join any Safe Space on Campus events and support us as allies.
Who do you mean when you talk about “women”?
Everyone who identifies or presents as a woman is warmly welcome in our group. We celebrate and embrace all expressions of womanhood — including cis, trans, and gender-fluid women — and aim to create a space where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.
Is there a connection between you and STAIR or HSLU?
We’re an independent student initiative, separate from both HSLU and STAIR, as we have a different focus and structure. At the same time, we really value our close relationship with the university — they occasionally sponsor our events, we collaborate on shared initiatives, and we work together when students come to us for support with formal complaints.
I’m shy, do I need to know people to join?
Not at all! Many women come to their first event alone and usually leave with new friends. Our goal is to create a community, so this includes making new contacts and even friendships.
